Mary-Beth gripped the slick rock, feet treading air over the ledge. Her nails dug into the rock and she felt several of them break. The spray from the waterfall soaked her jeans.
She imagined falling into the darkness below. Where that thing was waiting for her because of course it couldn’t be dead.
